Benteke might return for City match
The Belgian attacker of Aston Villa, Christian Benteke has been out of action and trying to recover from a ruptured achilles injury since April but all signs are pointing towards him making a return to the first team of Aston Villa as he might be able to make get into the squad just in time for Aston Villa’s upcoming Premier League match against Manchester City which is going to be played on October 4.
Christian Benteke played his first match ever since picking up the injury during an Under 21 match of Aston Villa which defeated Bolton. Benteke made a solid performance as he scored a goal at the 33rd minute and provided an assist for his teammates a few moments later.
When the match was over Paul Lambert said: 'Christian played for about an hour today and we’re delighted with how he came through the game. It was great to see him back out there and he played well in the time he was on the pitch. He scored a goal, which is great for him, and his general play was good, too, considering how long he’s been away from it. We’ll see how he feels tomorrow and how he recovers but it was a good, positive step for him today’’.
Benteke has been out of action for a significantly long period of time and has missed out from a number of matches not only with Aston Villa but also with Belgium as he had to miss the 2014 World Cup due to the achilles injury but after over 5 months recovering, the Belgium player is expected to be fully fit and ready within the upcoming few weeks or even days.
The return of Benteke to the team of Paul Lambert is a great addition to the squad as they have been struggling to score goals after only scoring 4 goals in 6 League matches; the arrival of Benteke could boost those numbers.
