Corry Evans is a major doubt for the club’s upcoming match against Middlesbrough on Boxing Day
Blackburn Rovers midfielder Corry Evans is a major doubt for the club’s upcoming match against Middlesbrough on Boxing Day.
It comes as a disappointing news for manager Paul Lambert, who suffered his first defeat of his Blackburn reign in last week’s match against Reading. It is thought that the player will undergo a late fitness test in order to decide his participation in the game.Evans has been struggling with several issues since Lambert took over as manager. He was unavailable for the game against Reading, but Lambert will be the first to confess that he could certainly do with the presence of a quality player likeEvans.
Apart from the doubtful Corry Evans, Blackburn only have Jason Lowe on the sidelines. Lambert will be hoping that the loss against Reading does not destroy the confidence within the team. Results have been on the up since he came as the replacement for Gary Bowyer. The game against table leaders Middlesbrough will be one of the toughest for the club in recent weeks. However, they have a relatively easy game against Bolton on Monday. Lambert will be hoping that the home support will provide the added advantage against Middlesbrough, who have dropped only two points in the last five games.
“Corry will be touch and go. Whether he makes this one, I don’t know. It’s a groin injury. He’s had it since before I came in. He was stop-starting in training. It all depends on what happens in the next few days but if he doesn’t make this one hopefully he’ll be okay for Monday,” said Lambert. The manager was extremely dissatisfied with the inability to get something out of the game against Reading since he felt that his team had done enough to warrant even a victory. Blackburn created numerous chances in the match.
