Coyle Says Corry Evans Doubtful for Reading Game
Blackburn Rovers manager Owen Coyle has confirmed that Corry Evans remains a major doubt for the upcoming clash with Reading.
The versatile player appeared to suffer a recurrence of the groin injury in the 3-2 win over Brighton. This led to the player in the recent matches, and it is expected that the upcoming game with Reading will also be a similar story. The absence of an experienced player like Evans will be a major blow for Blackburn in their fight against relegation. The club began the new season with aspirations of promotion, but they have been down near the bottom of the table due to poor form.
Evans has been one of the main stay at Blackburn over the last few years, but he missed the first few weeks of the season due to the groin injury. It was not until September that he made his first appearance for the club this season. Since then, he has been a regular feature in the Blackburn midfield.
His absence during the Christmas will be a major blow to the team, as they try to get away from the drop zone. Relegation would be catastrophic for the club as a whole, as they would soon run out of parachute payments from the Premier League.
"He has a groin problem for the last few years, this is not something new. Ideally we want a fit Corry Evans to be available for every game because he is a wonderful player and certainly adds something to our team.In recent weeks Corry would get to 70 0r 75 minutes and has had to come off in a few games so we've been trying to get to the root cause of what can make it better and take it from there,” said Coyle in the pre-match press conference ahead of Reading.
