Danny Graham Keen On Penning Blackburn Rovers Extension

Blackburn Rovers striker Danny Graham is keen to guide the club back to the Championship before discussing the possibility of penning an extension. The veteran marked his 100th appearance for the Rovers in style last weekend by scoring the winner in a 1-0 triumph over Southend United.

In an interview covered on the club’s official website, Graham revealed he never looked to leave Ewood following their relegation last term. Meanwhile, the former Swansea City man added that talks over an extension have already begun, though he is focused on guiding the club first to promotion, he said: “I love it at this football club, I have stated it every time.

“I’m out of contract in the summer but I have had conversations with the manager and hopefully that can get decide when we know what league we’re going to be in. Hopefully, that’s the Championship and a deal gets done, that’s what I want and I hope the gaffer wants that as well and we can move forward together. That would be the perfect end to a great season for everyone.”

With the victory, the Rovers are four points ahead of third-placed Shrewsbury, and this should assure them of promotion, provided they can maintain their winning momentum through the remaining games of the season. Meanwhile, close neighbours Wigan Athletic also appear on course to attain promotion as they hold a two-point lead over Shrewsbury with a game in hand.

Paul Cook’s side appeared to have entered a lean patch following their excellent run in the FA Cup, but they have since got their season back on track and look on course to return to the second tier. The fight for the final two play-off spots, however, could go to the very end with just two points separating teams from the fifth to nine positions in the League One table.
