David Raya pleased to return to Blackburn Rovers mix

Spanish goalkeeper David Raya has said that he is pleased to have returned from a troublesome injury, which saw him miss last week’s game against Hibernian. The 22-year-old made his comeback during the second half of the pre-season friendly against Port Vale on Saturday and he is now relishing regular gametime ahead of the Championship opener at Ipswich Town next month.

Speaking to reporters, he said:“It's been a few weeks now since we got back into pre-season and I've had a knock since the back end of last season, which still wasn't right. That was why I took a rest and missed out on last weekend's trip to Scotland. So it feels great to have got some game time against Port Vale.

I didn't have a lot to do, but to get some more minutes under my belt was perfect for me.”

Prior to this, however, Blackburn have a strong test against Champions League finalists Liverpool at Ewood Park. Jurgen Klopp’s side have been bolstered this summer with the arrivals of Naby Keita and Fabinho into the ranks and the Rovers can expect a difficult challenge which should put them on the right frame of mind for the league opener.

Meanwhile, the Rovers have been relatively quiet during the course of the summer transfer window and so far, they have made just two signings in the form of Jacob Davenport and Joe Rothwell to bolster the midfield department. Nevertheless, there have been positives in terms of extending the contracts of key players and a recent report from HITC has claimed that Bradley Dack has agreed

Aside from the 24-year-old, Craig Conway and Danny Graham are also being fancied to extend their stays after laying their mark during the automatic promotion from League One. Blackburn begin their Championship campaign with an away trip to Ipswich Town on August 4.
