Defeat over Hungary made History by many Countries
With triumphs over Hungary, Faroe Islands and Greece, Northern Ireland made history as it was the first time in the history of Northern Ireland that they have managed to start a qualifying campaign with 3 consecutive victories.
Northern Ireland is located in the 2nd spot of Group F with 9 points having been collected after 4 matches. They are in a very comfortable location and the Irish squad is hoping they can continue gathering more points in their upcoming qualification match which will take place on March 29 at the Windsor Park.
Corry Evans of the English League Championship club, Blackburn Rovers is optimistic about the chances that his nation has on advancing into the next stages of the international tournament as the 24 year old midfielder stated that being able to qualify and progress further would be something special.
“We’ve got a half decent chance this time around. There’s no real big name in our group, they are good nations but they are not the likes of Spain, Germany and France.’’
“We know that two definitely qualify from the group this time around so there’s a big incentive for us to do well.Hopefully we can come out at the end of it having qualified and go on to play in the Euros, which would be something special.” Corry Evans said as he expressed just how big it would be to compete against the bigger nations in the world of football.
Evans was not able to play for Northern Ireland during their qualification matches against Faroe Islands and Greece but even with the absence of the former Manchester United player, Northern Ireland managed to clinch victories over both nations and Evans was hugely proud of what his country teammates have been accomplishing recently.
