MORE ROVERS PLAYERS GET INJURED
English side Blackburn Rovers is having bad times as the club is set to lose two more players to the injury list as Elliott Ward and Elliott Bennett are set to miss the game against Mansfield Town in the English Football League Cup first round.
The centre back Ward picked up an ankle injury in the Championship opener played on Saturday. He player admitted the injury was serious when Norwich City scored their second goal.
Winger Bennett picked up his hamstring problem in the first half and was taken off the game during the half time break. Rovers suffered a 4-1 loss at Ewood Park, raising fears that they would miss the game on Wednesday. Rovers coach Owen Coyle reacted to this.
“Elliott Ward and Elliott Bennett have injuries from Saturday so they will miss out tomorrow night. Elliott Ward injured his ankle at the outset of the game and Elliott Bennett felt his hamstring getting tighter as the first half was going on. We’re not particularly blessed by great numbers so we’ll have to make sure we take care of the ones who do pick up knocks and try and get them back as quickly as we can.”
Originally, the only Rovers player sure to miss the game was Corry Evans. Evans picked up his groin injury since his return from national team duty playing for Northern Ireland at the Euro 2016. Corry said Evans played with the injury at the continental tournament, so he understood what the player is going through. He said he hopes the player would get back to the team as he is a very good player, and a big part of the team. The club is hoping that the injured players return to the team as quick as possible as the league continues.
