Northern Ireland international Corry Evans was one of the many Blackburn Rovers players that took to Instagram to congratulate teammate Ben Bereton after he wassurprisingly called up to the Chile national team for the World Cup qualifiers and the Copa America tournament this summer.

Corry Evans replied with Vamos Chile to the post from Bereton on the invitation extended to him by Chile. Apart from Corry Evans, other Blackburn Rovers stars like Bradley Dack and Bradley Johnson also congratulated him with respective replies to the post from him on Instagram.

Bereton qualified for the call up to the Chile national team through his mother. He was born in Stoke-On-Trent to a Chilean mother. The new Chilean international scored seven times in 40 games for Blackburn Rovers in the English Championship last season as the former Premier League champions finished the season in mid-table thus missing out on a place in the playoffs at least.

Blackburn Rovers star Bereton made his debut for Chile in their first game at the ongoing Copa America tournament in Brazil. He came on as a second half substitute as Chile began the tournament with a 1-1 draw against two-time world champions Argentina in a Group A clash played on Monday. He would go on to make his full debut against Bolivia on Friday.

Bereton celebrated the occasion of his first start for Chile with a goal that ultimately won the game for his country at the expense of Bolivia. He scored after just ten minutes of the game after good work from fellow forward Eduardo Vargas. His goal was enough to seal the first win of the tournament for Chile thus taking them to four points from two matches. The 1-0 win over the Bolivians means that one more win will take them through to the next stage of the competition.
