Northern Ireland advance
Northern Ireland has seriously struggled in the 2016 Euro’s as they lost their opening match of the tournament after losing against Poland and 9 days later sustaining another loss against Germany.
From the 3 opening matches of the competition that they have played so far, only 1 victory has been secured which was when facing off with Ukraine but it’s enough for them to progress into the next rounds of the 2016 Euro’s.
Northern Ireland is competing in Group C along with: Ukraine, Poland and Germany. Fortunately for the Irish outfit, Ukraine are going through a disastrous campaign and it allows the team of Michael O’Neill to get past the group stages.
Michael O’Neill and his players will be facing off with Wales on June 25 for the Round of 16.
Corry Evans is a Northern Irish player who has been representing his national side during this edition of the Euro’s and even though they had to face off against one of Europe’s titans Germany, Evans tried to inspire his team by forgetting about all of the big name players that the German national side has such as: Toni Kroos and Mesut Ozil as Corry Evans wanted his team to focus on playing the game and hopefully win their match but despite the tips from Evans, Germany came out on top with a 1-0 triumph over Northern Ireland.
Germany’s match against Northern Ireland was a very one sided encounter as the German outfit had 71% of possession and launched 26 shots which is huge in comparison to the Irish side which could only muster 2 shots in the entire match.
Even with this defeat against Germany, the team of Michael O’Neill have still secured their spot in the knockout stages of the 2016 Euro’s and will be facing off with Wales in Paris on June 25.
